HERITAGE SAFARI LODGE
The Heritage Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1940’s as a hotel and was a landmark pitstop for weary travellers between Maputo and Durban. Acquired in 1996, the gracious building was lovingly restored to its original colonial grandeur, enhanced with new accommodation, and tastefully themed to highlight Zululand’s unique cultural heritage.
Situated adjacent to the Zulu Nyala Safari Game Reserve, only 200 meters away from the closest entrance gate, the Heritage Safari Lodge is ideally located for guests to enjoy all the activities on offer at Zulu Nyala Safari Game lodge.
With buffet-style meals in our restaurant, the wide, welcoming veranda and our “human watering hole” – the pub or thatched boma, warm and relaxing atmosphere is conducive to shared good times and conviviality. The sparkling pool is always inviting, and you’re sure to enjoy browsing through our beautifully stocked curio shop for a few authentic African mementos.
Accommodation
All 57 en-suite guest rooms are fully air-conditioned with separate bath and shower. These spacious colonial style rooms are all equipped with tea / coffee making facilities, overhead fan, hairdryer, wall safe and direct dial telephones.
HEMINGWAY TENTED CAMP
Take your senses back in time to an era when travelling with tents was the only way to explore the magnificence of Africa. Zulu Nyala’s Hemingway Tented Camp provides a sense of safari adventure with all the comforts of a luxury camp. The elegant and spacious tents, with permanent bases, contrast cool neutrals with earth tones and slate in colonial style, counter-pointed with ethnic inspiration. The tents situated within the grounds of the Heritage Safari Lodge, with Antelope and Zebra freely roaming the grounds.
Safari Game Drives are a definite highlight for our guests. A visit to the nearby Zulu Cultural Village, where the age old traditions of the magnificent culture are part of daily life, is also a must.
